Maintaining motivation, engagement, and enthusiasm in the classroom can be challenging for teachers. This is where ICT tools, like apps and web platforms, play a crucial role in helping educators communicate effectively and transfer knowledge while keeping students’ attention. In today’s world, it’s essential to discover and use interactive learning methods, offering students an alternative, non-traditional approach that keeps them engaged. The new edition of the course “Integrating ICT and new technologies into teaching and education” took place in Palermo from 23/03/2025 to 29/03/2025. The participants came from all across Europe with Kristina Šadeiko-Liiva from Saku Gymnasium in Estonia, Sarmīte Bendrate and Agnese Veldre from Varme primery school in Latvia, Kristin Krauß, Cornelia Srocke, Andreas See and Thomas Löhr from SBZ Nordhausen in Germany, Katrin Forsgren and Karin Lagerström from Härryda kommun in Sweden, Tage Djupvik from Røyken vgs in Norway, Ana Farromba from Agrupamento de Escolas de Proença a Nova in Portugal, and Emmanuelle Briand and Silje Andreassen from Oppdal Videregående Skole in Norway. In this course, participants learned how to use a wide variety of technological tools and integrate them into their teaching methods. First, they explored simple and user-friendly tools for editing pictures and videos, which are highly effective in teaching. These tools can serve various purposes, such as creating multimedia content, introducing new topics, summarizing previous ones, or encouraging students to create their own work to foster creativity. In particular, video presentations are a great way to energize students and capture their attention. In addition, participants also practiced incorporating AI tools in their classes. Exploring many different tools, they got to know how to use AI in a way that encourages students and supports them in their learning process. Over the past years, traditional education had to make way for virtual lessons and online classes. As a result, this course also covered applications essential for conducting online classes, such as virtual whiteboards, which help create engaging lessons and foster collaborative learning experiences. Moreover, participants had the opportunity to discover the world of technology through numerous practical activities, including presentations, virtual quizzes, creating engaging social media content, and using tools for organizing graphics, posters, collages, and more. This course provided participants with the opportunity to collaborate and learn from each other's experiences. By the end, they gained a deeper understanding of interactive learning and acquired a new set of tools, ready to implement in their classrooms. There's no doubt that this approach will boost students' creativity, engagement, attention, and motivation, making learning a fun and dynamic experience! Discover more about this course here.
