Making the most of New Technologies, Apps and Social Media in the classroom

During these past years, traditional education had to leave space for virtual lessons. Because of this, we had to adapt and think about a new way to teach and learn remotely. In this case, using new technologies, digital tools, and interactive learning platforms proved to be a winning strategy. These technologies allowed teachers all over the world to maintain an engaging and dynamic environment in virtual classes. The same tools demonstrated their utility inside a real classroom as well, especially when it came to capturing students’ attention and enthusiasm.

The latest edition of the course “Making the most of new technologies, apps and social media in the classroom” focused on these critical matters. This session took place in Tenerife from 19/01/2025 to 25/01/2025 and welcomed participants from across Europe. Among them were Karlo Ganžulić and Kristijan Kolarek from Hrvatski Crveni križ Gradsko društvo Crvenog križa Koprivnica in Croatia, Siobhan McCarthy and Rebecca Perrott from CETB CCFET Tramore Road Campus in Ireland, Stefanie Ryan and Barbara Stemann from KBS Nordhorn in Germany, Ryan Steh from Internationella Engelska Skolan Sundsvall in Sweden, Zeneta Miladauskiene and Rita Beitnaraitė from Kauno Martyno Mažvydo Progymnasium in Lithuania, Loredana Manno from Heinrich-Heine-Gymnasium Oberhausen in Germany, and Renata Brzica from Primary School Pavleka Miškine in Zagreb, Croatia.

Throughout the course, participants explored various tools and strategies to enhance their teaching methods, integrating these technologies into classrooms to make lessons easier and more effective. The training began with an introduction to different tools, enabling participants to create interactive activities and enhance engagement in their classrooms.

​Participants also learned to design Escape Rooms as a teaching strategy, making learning into something fun. This innovative approach aims to boost problem-solving skills and creativity in students. Additionally, the course covered essential IT tips and advice, with participants sharing their ideas and experiences on implementing these technologies and strategies into their teaching practices.

Participantes also attended a special session on effectively managing social media for schools. This talk provided valuable insights into how institutions can enhance their communication strategies and online presence, something so important nowadays.

By the end of the course, everyone left with a solid foundation in interactive learning and the latest digital tools, ready to apply them to their lessons. Their creativity, collaboration, and enthusiasm will undoubtedly lead to a transformation in their teaching practices, increasing student engagement and making learning a dynamic and enjoyable experience.
