Course overview
Nowadays we are witnessing a significant trend towards rethinking the role of assessment in education. Traditional assessment and grading systems are increasingly blamed for harming students, besides giving no relevant insight into students’ learning outcomes. In recent decades, teachers and education staff have demonstrated a growing interest in the application of formative assessment and feedback management in education, which are nowadays considered to be among the most effective classroom management as instructional strategies.
By taking part in this training course, participants will learn how to effectively and purposefully use assessment and feedback strategies in the classroom with the aim of enhancing teachers’ awareness of students’ understanding and students’ ability to self-check and acquire greater confidence and responsibility towards the learning process. The course will additionally help teachers and education staff to improve the way they provide feedback to students and their questioning approach, as important elements of a formative assessment strategy. The knowledge and skills gained during the course will thus empower teachers and educators across Europe to strengthen and promote a formative culture in the classroom.
